ABOUT

Q. WHO IS CRAFTMELEON?
craftmeleon is a mixed media artist who is usually focusing on adoptable fiber art familiars and traditional and digital illustrations. They label themselves a "Professional make-believer and Creator of Creatures". Their work focuses on the circle of life and death, nature, folklore and the occult. Their work often has a strong ecological lean, focusing on education, native ecosystems, and being a responsible member of the world in which we live. Their artistic mediums and hair color change with their mood — like a magical, crafting chameleon.
A jack of all trades sitting somewhere in Chaotic Good. A textbook Sagittarius… probably. Meyer-Briggs said they were an INTP - the logician, if you believe in that sorta stuff. Constantly day-dreaming, always learning and probably not wearing shoes, they will take any opportunity to talk about how all creatures and plants have a purpose in their native ecosystem and should be treated with respect. When not in the workshop, they're usually found wandering the woods, staring at the sky at weird times of the night or trying to make friends with the crows. They are most active during the rain with snowy days coming in at a close second. They are a firm advocate of the seasons (yes, even the cold one) and have both an intense infatuation and crippling fear of the ocean… which they have always lived quite close to. They surround themself with millions of plants and talk to animals as if they’ll answer one day. Maybe they will. They're also in a never ending battle with an invasive wisteria. Ask them about it.They are not so great with crowds and use adoptable familiars as a way to get out in the world, make friends, and not entirely become a hermit that lives in the woods. Check out our schedule page to see where you can adopt a familiar from the Caravan of Creatures!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. WHY DO YOU DRAW SO MANY DEAD/SCARY THINGS?
A. I’m pretty fascinated with the cycle of life, nature, where I fit into it, and what, if anything, that means. I like bones, the ‘otherworld’, decaying things, and the general cycle of the world. That being said, I also love, with abandon, life and all that encompasses from the slimy, crawly things to giant trees and winds that knock over buildings. For me, life and death are the same “life” and they are both incredibly important and beautiful. It’s also fair to say that examining it so closely helps me process and come to terms with things I don’t know and can’t control. There is beauty in being part of the cycle.
Q. WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
A. We bounce between the Tampa Bay Area and the Northeast United States.
Q. WHERE CAN I GET YOUR STUFF/IS THIS SELLER LEGIT?
A. If you wish to purchase directly from me, events, the discord and secret shops are the best way.

☾ REQUESTS & COMMISSIONS ☽

Q. DO YOU TAKE REQUESTS?
A. Usually! The easiest place to make requests is on twitch or in the discord. Please note that I have an ever growing list of projects in various forms of development so I may not be able to get to everything. Requesting something does not guarantee I will make it, nor does it mean you will get a copy or creature for free.
Q. DO YOU TAKE INDIVIDUAL COMMISSIONS?
A. Not usually. I often have a lot on my plate with ongoing partnerships.
Any open commissions are offered to supports in the discord before being posted publicly. These usually involve specific parameters. If you are interested in hiring me for something in particular, please reach out on the inquiries page.Q. DO YOU DO DONATIONS?
A. Most of the time I am unable to donate free product for events, exposure or promotions. On occasion, I may be able to contribute but, it is on a case by case basis as I already have prior commitments I have to account for.
Unfortunately, I just do not have time to balance everything at this time. Please send inquiries through the form on our contact page. Thank you for understanding!

☾ THE PLANTERGEIST ☽

Q. WHERE ARE THE PLANTERGEIST FROM?
A. I have a billion house plants. Some thrive and others end up passing on from this side as I learn to take care of them. It made me daydream about what happens to things as they leave here and how I suppose, the dearly departed would like some plants too.. I started envisioning little personified ghosts of the plants I’d lost and how they’d go about their business in the afterlife. It made me feel better about the plants that have passed on and the cycle of the seasons. Friends related to them, suggested new ones and they took off from there. Now there are houseplants, invasive baddies, allergy causers, misunderstood natives and more. Using the Plantergeist I hope to raise awareness of native and invasive plants and clarify their importance in the world around us.
Q. CAN I REQUEST A SPECIFIC PLANT TO BE MADE?
A. Sure! I get suggestions for future Plantergeist usually when I'm live streaming on Twitch or in the discord. I can't always get to all of them or may make them at a later time when the inspiration for that plant strikes.
Q. WHERE CAN I GET THEM?
A. The first place to get new Plantergeist is usually in the Sticker Club or the supporter discord. Plantergeist are also with us at shows and in select locations that stock our art.

☾ FIBER CREATURES & PATTERNS ☽

Q. WHAT TOOLS DO YOU USE?
A. My current hooks are Clover Amour. For fibers I jump around but, usually use Loops & Threads and Caron One Pound for pattern development and as certain creature staples. I LOVE indie and local dyers and am always looking for new suggestions for fibers so if you have a favorite, let me know!
Q. HOW LONG DO CREATURES TAKE TO MAKE?
A. It varies between creatures but, most take 4-16 hours or more depending on the amount of pieces and details. Most of our creatures have multiple phases including wire frames, crochet, needle felting and painting so they’re not always worked straight through. Belfri are often the most detailed and take the longest – Sometimes up to 20 hours. You can see us working in real time on twitch.
Q. WHERE DO YOUR CREATURES COME FROM?
A. I have always been a daydreamer and have been making up creatures and fantasy worlds in my head for as long as I’ve had the ability to think. I make all of our creatures and patterns (unless otherwise noted) and take inspiration from nature, lore, and the things that scare me. They start as sketches before moving through multiple test runs and are always going through adjustments and improvements even when they’ve joined the official crew. You should never stop learning and I think our creatures can never stop improving.
Q. WHERE CAN I ADOPT A CREATURE?
A. We always try to bring a selection of creatures to all our conventions and shows. A list of our shows can be found here.
Supporters get first access to pop-up shops and have a "dibs" section of the discord where they can claim posted creatures before anyone else.If you are in the Tampa Bay area you can also find our stuff at Conworlds EmporiumQ. DO YOU SELL YOUR PATTERNS?
A. I do not. It is something I'm considering doing for the future but, all of my creatures are very near and dear to my heart and I'm unsure if I'm ready to let them go. Besides, as anyone can attest -- my pattern grimoire is a MESS and a lot of the details for creatures are made up on the spot.
